These conditions are replicated inside our partner laboratory network in Henan—the world's leading hub for lab-grown diamond research and manufacturing—to grow a real diamond from the carbon in your loved one's ashes.

This is the full memorial-diamond service path. It is not the same as the shorter checklist on /order (choose diamond → mounting → deposit checkout), which only configures your cart before the first Shopify Checkout. RisenGem charges are split into two Shopify Checkouts—a deposit when you place the order, and a balance after we confirm production with you. Typical total time from completed deposit to insured delivery is about 10–12 weeks (varies by region, customs, and carriers). Inside that window, purification through rough ready for cutting at our partner laboratory network in Henan typically spans about 35–40 days—lab-side only, excluding international shipping segments.
Step 1
Configure & pay your deposit
On risengem.com you select diamond, jewelry category, mounting, and ashes or hair—then complete the first Shopify Checkout to pay your deposit. The amount on that screen is your deposit, not the full order total; until it clears, no laboratory growth work is scheduled. See Orders, shipping & refunds for cancellation rules around the deposit.
Step 2
Send the carbon
Ship ashes or hair using the instructions in your order confirmation email. Shipments are tracked and insured where stated.
Step 3
Production confirmation & balance payment
Once we have intake-checked your materials, you click a Production confirmation in your customer center or in our email—this is the moment you choose to begin substantive custom work. Soon after, Client Care emails a secure cart link for the second Shopify Checkout (your balance). Your balance must clear before growth-related lab work continues.
Step 4
Grow your diamond in the lab
Carbon purification and HPHT growth take place at our partner laboratory network in Henan—the scientific core in the stages below, stewarded by RisenGem against written quality and custody specifications. That Henan lab band (through rough ready for cutting) is typically about 35–40 days and sits inside the overall 10–12 week deposit-to-delivery path once inbound materials, balance Shopify Checkout, and outbound carriers are included.
Step 5
Cut, certify & finish
Master cutting, independent grading when included in your order (e.g. IGI), and jewelry execution exactly as specified.
Step 6
Insured delivery & receipt
Your finished memorial diamond ships with insured carriers; you inspect your package and celebrate the homecoming.

Deposit checkout & secure shipment
You begin online: choose your diamond, material, and setting, then complete the first Shopify Checkout to pay your deposit. The amount on that screen is your deposit—the balance comes later, after we confirm production with you. We follow up by email with pickup or shipping instructions for ashes or hair. Begin with a deposit
Carbon purification
We isolate carbon from the other elements in ashes or hair. Much elemental carbon burns off during cremation, but carbonates in bone remain—that is the carbon we extract. Roughly 0.5–4% of remains are carbon; purification is a multi-week laboratory step that rolls into the broader Henan processing band (about 35–40 days lab-side, excluding international shipping), still within a typical 10–12 week deposit-to-delivery path for most U.S. customers. The result is graphite powder—the starter material for the diamond.

Diamond growth
Diamond growth takes place at our partner laboratory network in Zhengzhou, Henan, staffed by experienced materials scientists and technicians who operate under our written quality and custody specifications. The HPHT machines they run replicate the extreme temperature and pressure found deep within the Earth. Over time, your loved one's carbon crystallizes on a diamond seed and grows into a rough memorial diamond—part of the same Henan lab band (about 35–40 days through rough ready for cutting) described in the overview above.

Diamond quality assessment
After the rough diamond forms, we scan it (like an X-ray) to map inclusions and confirm the planned shape and size will fit cleanly in the rough without visible flaws. Quality over speed—we want your loved one's diamond to be right.
Diamond cutting
Once your diamond passes inspection, a master cutter shapes it to specification. The master cutters in our partner network bring decades of experience. Cut has the biggest influence on brilliance—we are selective about who we work with.
The finishing touches
Durations in this section (for example coloration) are optional add-ons when you choose them—they are not the same clock as the ~35–40 day Henan lab band summarized above, and they can extend an overall ~10–12 week deposit-to-delivery path when selected. Policy detail: Orders, shipping & refunds.
Diamond coloration*
If you chose a red, green, or black diamond, we run an additional coloration stage. High-energy particles combine with natural elements (such as nitrogen and boron) to create color centers through the stone. Black diamonds can take about three months to become fully opaque.
Grading & engraving
Your loved one's diamond is a real diamond, so we have it certified by independent gemologists. We work with IGI USA, a respected grading lab. They examine color, clarity, and cut—and can laser-engrave your personal inscription microscopically.
Jewelry setting*
We can help arrange a setting, or you can set locally. Choose from our curated line or work with a jeweler on a custom design. Setting planning starts after cutting so dimensions are final.
